    Version 2.0

Well, I'm looking forward to 2.0 since an update for 1.8 is really needed. When do you expect it will be ready? I know software is never finished :) , but still... Are there any good news for us anxious customers? Thank you.

    Version 2.0

There is no ETA yet and there is still a lot of work to do. Version 2.0 is now indeed a complete rewrite of the old script. The current code base for 2.0 is way different than version 1.8. I could rush the release and using some older modules with the new code base, but I am sure no one would be really happy with the end result.

Actually, I was thinking at one point to release the new 2.0 core with the old 1.xx modules as version 1.9 to making the migration easier, but discard this idea later after it was clear that the caching system of both versions are too different.

    Some of the changes:

    - Modular code. You easily include your own modules without any code changes
    - Database abstract layer for different database systems. The development is currently done under MySQL, but you will see modules for other database system in near future as well.
    - Complete new template system with support for multiple themes.

I will post an update, as soon this release is getting closer.

I agree, it wouldn't be good to rush it. But do tell us more about the major new features, just so we can drool over our keyboards :)
Will you allow users to pick their own theme?
Will there be some predefined modules for users to choose from and have them displayed when they logon (personalization)?
I'd definitely wait as long as needed for these two features.

This is not implanted yet, but it is possible with the new code base.
