Contentteller 2.1.0 released

Contentteller 2.1.0 is finally available in the members area. This is the first major release after the initial 2.0.0 release back in 2008.



Contentteller 2.1.0 comes with over 50 new features including a revamped design, Twitter integration, embed video support, and more SEO features.



Here a screenshot how the new Instant Style editor looks like. The default installation comes with 7 styles and support now rounded corners.
There is also a column manager to choose between 16 different 2-3 columns layouts.



Here a screenshot of the new news editor. As you can see the posting form is split over multiple tabs. The "Main" tab contains always the important functions and the "Advanced" tab the optional functions.



Here an example how the front end can look like. In this example I used a two columns layout but there are also three columns layouts available.

Upgrade from Storyteller 1.x
Contentteller 2.1 includes the latest version of the Acquire import module that allows data import from Storyteller CMS. Just check Acquire during installation to install the module. Acquire supports also the import from Pligg, Subdreamer, VirtuaNews, and WordPress.

Upgrade from Contentteller 2.0.x
It is possible to upgrade an existing Contentteller 2.0.x installation with the cupgrade.php script but there are limitations. Some features such as the drop down menus requires a 2.1 template set.

I highly recommend to trying the upgrade first on a local test installation instead of rolling it out on a live installation.

Contentteller 2.0.x is still supported until 1st November 2011 (Standard/Professional) / 1st November 2013 (Business), so there is no rush to upgrade to the new version immediately. Contentteller 2.0.7 includes all 2.1.0 bugfixes.

The trial version requires ionCube Loader and expires after 30 days.

Some new features such as the drop down menu will not work without modifications on a 2.0.x template set. I will probably post a tutorial on how to modify the 2.0.x template set in a few days.
