Contentteller 2.0.3 (2008.3) released Contentteller 2.0.3 has been released today. Starting with this release, Contenteller will be released under the original version numbering again. Another thing that has been changed is the way Contentteller will be developed. The original plan was to use the community editions as test bed for new developments, but this turned out quite inefficient. Instead Contentteller will be again developed as commercial software but selective branches will be also made available as open source. For example, the current 2.0.x branch will be available as both commercial and open source versions while the upcoming 2.1.x branch is currently planned as commercial version only. But now back to the Contentteller 2.0.3 release. This is primary a maintenance release but comes with a few new features. The most exciting enhancement over previous Contentteller releases is clearly the newly enhanced instant style editor along with the new default theme. Here the full change log of 2.0.3: Download Customers can download Contentteller Professional Edition and Business Edition from the member’s area. Contentteller Community Edition is available over the Google Code website
Great news, looks like quite a lot has been fixed. What concerns me is that I have done various modifcations to some files such as articles pages, TOC and others - will this conflict with any of the customisations I have made over the weeks when I overwrite all the files contained within this new release?
It is usual fairly easy to upgrade from one release to another as long it is the same branch (e.g. 2.0.3, 2.0.4, 2.0.5 etc.). Upgrading to the upcoming 2.1 branch is a bit more complicated after it will come with updated/new templates and other database alterations.
Yes, after 2008.2 is basically 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 basically 2008.3 Btw if you add your forum user name in the member's area, you can access the private Hot Fixes and Updates forum.
No, the open source version remains but the commercial version will get many new features faster then the open source version. It is pretty much the opposite of the original plan. Some features will be also backported to the 2.0.x series. For example, the new style and instant style editor was originally from the 2.1 branch.
OpenSourceCMS just updated their online demo to 2.0.3: Contentteller Community Edition version 2.0.3 Demo - OpenSourceCMS
This was something I was concerned with, so please could you let me know how this goes before I make the move? Cheers
The upgrade issue above has most likely something to do with Error’s Contentteller setup. It could be also a problem with his custom design templates. Unfortunately, he never opened a trouble ticket so it is not possible for me to investigate this issue. A few customers upgrade in the meantime to 2.0.3 but no one reported a problem with broken templates after the upgrade. However, it is always a good idea to make a backup prior to the upgrade. Just in case.
