Default Contentteller 2.0.3 (2008.3) released

Contentteller 2.0.3 has been released today. Starting with this release, Contenteller will be released under the original version numbering again.

Another thing that has been changed is the way Contentteller will be developed. The original plan was to use the community editions as test bed for new developments, but this turned out quite inefficient. Instead Contentteller will be again developed as commercial software but selective branches will be also made available as open source.

For example, the current 2.0.x branch will be available as both commercial and open source versions while the upcoming 2.1.x branch is currently planned as commercial version only.

But now back to the Contentteller 2.0.3 release. This is primary a maintenance release but comes with a few new features.

The most exciting enhancement over previous Contentteller releases is clearly the newly enhanced instant style editor along with the new default theme.

Here the full change log of 2.0.3:

Quote:
Version 2.0.3 (2009-05-06)
- Fixed a small issue where the default mirrors not showing up
- Added load averages and server uptime to admin control panel
- Revamped admin permission system
- Updated TinyMCE to version 3.2.3.1
- Revamped default theme with graphical elements
- Added more styling options to instant style editor
- Fixed a typo in queue story edit
- Fixed an issue where article images will not enlarge in thumbnail mode
- Fixed an issue in the article module that can cause a wrong page numbering
- Fixed a small typo in the integration scripts
- Editing an entry will no longer change the author to the edit admin
- Added a random parameter to the automated task image to force a reload with every page refresh
- Fixed a permission issue in the left admin menu

Great news, looks like quite a lot has been fixed.

What concerns me is that I have done various modifcations to some files such as articles pages, TOC and others - will this conflict with any of the customisations I have made over the weeks when I overwrite all the files contained within this new release?

It is usual fairly easy to upgrade from one release to another as long it is the same branch (e.g. 2.0.3, 2.0.4, 2.0.5 etc.).

Upgrading to the upcoming 2.1 branch is a bit more complicated after it will come with updated/new templates and other database alterations.

Yes, after 2008.2 is basically 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 basically 2008.3

No, the open source version remains but the commercial version will get many new features faster then the open source version. It is pretty much the opposite of the original plan.

Some features will be also backported to the 2.0.x series. For example, the new style and instant style editor was originally from the 2.1 branch.
